Leaders new to the seat

You were great at the work. Now the work is people.

For new managers in their first two years, and for leaders who've just stepped up a level.

Does this sound like you?

  • You've rehearsed a conversation with an underperformer for three weeks and still haven't had it.

  • Two people on your team can't stand each other, and both expect you to fix it.

  • A reorganization is coming, and you'll face your team before you have the details.

  • Someone is returning after months of leave, and you're not sure how to bring them back in.

  • You're hiring for the first time, and every candidate seems fine.

  • You've just started managing managers, and what worked with your own team doesn't carry over.

Books and videos give you principles. What you need is someone to think through Tuesday's meeting with.

What we work on

How you lead

Your values, your strengths, where your energy goes and how you delegate. We also map where your influence comes from, which is rarely where the org chart says it is.

Getting the team to work

First we find out what's really wrong, then we work on it: who owns what, the performance and conflict conversations, hiring well, and making it safe for people to speak up. For leaders a level up, this includes talent reviews and succession.

Leading through change

When your team goes through a reorganization or loses someone for months, we work out what to say and in which order, and how to make the call when it's yours to make.

What changes

You make people decisions you can explain, even to the person who disagrees with them. Hard conversations stop taking three weeks of rehearsal. And you stop feeling like the only person in the building who is making it up as they go.

How it works

We meet weekly, online, and each session starts from what's happening in your team that week. Most engagements run from four months up to ongoing sessions.

Your employer can pay from a development budget. If they do, we agree up front what gets reported back, and the content of our sessions stays between us.

Not the right fit if you're looking for a leadership course, or training for a whole group.

As a natural people leader, I find Christina quite easy to work with and someone who has a lot of knowledge in dealing with a variety of people issues.

I could visibly see the positive changes in my work mindset after her coaching, for which I am very grateful!

Common questions

I've been managing for five years. Is this still for me?

Yes, especially if you've just stepped up a level. Managing managers asks different things of you than managing a team, and it's a common moment to bring in a coach.

I have one hard conversation next week. Can we do a single session?

Yes. Mention it when you get in touch, and we'll plan around the date.

What if the real problem is my own manager?

Then that's what we work on. Managing up is part of leading, and it often matters most in your first year.

Can my company pay for this?

Yes. I invoice companies directly, and we agree up front what gets reported back.

Stop rehearsing. Start with an intro.

Tell me about your team and what's on your mind. I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.
