Would you let AI write feedback for your team?

By now, you’re probably sick of reading about AI. I am too. Most of the content about AI is either written by AI or written by someone trying to convince you it’s the second coming of electricity.

Revolutionary as it is, I want to explore a slightly different angle and something far more personal: the moral choices leaders face when deciding where AI belongs in their day-to-day #work.

AI is great at certain things. Summarizing a meeting transcript so you can focus on listening instead of frantically typing notes? Perfect use. Drafting an agenda, condensing a 20-page report, or creating bullet points for a presentation? Go for it.

But when it comes to leadership moments that carry emotional weight, outsourcing to AI crosses a line. Would you want your #performance review written by a software? Would you feel respected if your manager’s #feedback was auto-generated?

Let's attempt a general rule of thumb: if the task is about #efficiency, AI can help. If the task is about dignity, empathy, or trust, it’s your job as a leader to show up yourself.

👉No matter how advanced AI becomes, leadership is still about people remembering how you made them feel. And the smarter AI gets, the more valuable human leadership becomes. At the end of the day, your #team will remember whether your words sounded authentic, whether your recognition felt personal, and whether your decisions reflected real judgment.

💪A simple checklist for leaders navigating AI

Before you open that tab, run through these four questions:

✔️Does this task involve human emotion or dignity? If yes, do it yourself.

✔️Does it require authentic voice and judgment? If yes, do it yourself.

✔️Is this task about efficiency and clarity? If yes, AI can help.

✔️Will this message or action be remembered as a signal of trust or respect? If yes, it must come from you.

💪A 30-day experiment to try to get the most and best out of AI as a leader

1️⃣List 5 recurring tasks where AI could support you, and 3 where you need to keep full ownership.

2️⃣For one month, run a weekly test: try one “AI allowed” experiment (like summarizing meeting notes) and one “human only” action (like handwritten recognition or a direct feedback conversation).

3️⃣Pay attention to how your team responds and track your productivity. The results will indicate which tasks can be streamlined by using AI (and which tasks you're expected to do yourself).

🤔If you're still not convinced or you're looking for an even faster shortcut to help you decide on whether AI use is the best option, try this: Next time you’re tempted to let AI draft your #communication, ask yourself if you’d be comfortable saying it face-to-face and, if it (remotely) sounds like you. If the answer is no, don’t send it.
